Odd Jobs for the Modern Mom
Most of us have had our lives affected in some way shape or form by the conditions of the current economy. Here are just a few ideas to make extra money fast!
1. Have a garage sale. I recently made over $300 selling things that have been hiding in my closets and garage for years. I now have more space to boot.
2.If you have a little more patience, try selling items online. Craigslist offers free listings and Ebay reaches more buyers for a nominal fee, take your pick.
3. Offer to clean houses. Advertise in your neighborhood (like you did when you were a teenager looking for babysitting jobs) or post the ad online. If you have a friend looking to make extra cash too it would be wise to have someone with you and you'll be finished in half the time.
4.Blog. Many sites will pay you to write about things that you know a lot about or enjoy writing about.
5. Babysit. Yes, I said it. Do you know what babysitters charge now?!!
6. The holiday season is approaching, get a part time job working retail.
7. Can you sew? Make homemade tutus or other "princess items". These sell at all the local boutiques and move quick online.
8.Think about what special talents you have and start making money from them. Are you considered a handyman? A financial guru? Post ads online, talk to your friends and coworkers or write an ebook.
9. Can you bake? Post photos of your latest creations on all your social networking sites. Offer incentives. "If you refer 2 people, your cake will be half price"
10. Can you style hair or makeup like a pro? Offer to help your girlfriends get ready for that wedding coming up or just to get ready for Saturday night for a nominal fee.
11. Collect Cans. Really. There is a reason the homeless do it. It pays well.
12. Shop garage sales. One man's trash is another man's treasure (or extra income). Many people selling items out of their garage are doing it at rock bottom prices because they have to. Buy it and resell it at your own sale. Or if you're crafty, get furniture items that need a little love, fix them up and double (or more) your profits.
13. Walk dogs. With the hustle and bustle of today's busy lifestyle many pets are not getting the attention they need. This is probably something many people in your neighborhood are concerned about. Be that solution. Put a flier up on the mailbox and wait for the calls.
14. Offer gardening tips or landscape services.
15.Hold weekly Scrapbook classes in your living room.
16. Take a class to become a CPR and First Aid Instructor. The fees are not bad and all of your costs will qualify as a tax write off. Market yourself to local companies, children's organizations etc. Sell safety!
17. Take some nutrition courses and offer to help people by writing personalized diet plans. Same goes for fitness trainers.
18. Do consumer research studies. I get calls at least a few times a month to go review new products and say what I think about them. Keep in mind that most of the online surveys do not pan out. Do not look for "online surveys". Look for (your city name) consumer research. I make anywhere from $40 to $150 for just a few hours of my time.
19. Sell your plasma! It pays well and is a great way to give back.
Everybody has talent, it's all about identifying it and making money from it. Believe in your abilities and sell them. What you may see as simple could mean the world to somebody desperately looking for help or advice or a service.

I like the going to other yard sales, because one man's junk is another's treasure. My brother does real well at that. He works at the post office, but he's paying for a vacation home by selling aluminum cans and buying things from others and placing items in the 'Shopper', our local newspaper. He does well. Here's another idea for moms out there. Create a youtube channel and make a video everyday. Then earn an extra income from Adsense and affiliate network.

You can also try a temp agency - many employers are looking for P/T and/or seasonal jobs. You can be pre-screened and then alerted when jobs come up in your area of expertise.

Great ideas! While scouring thrift stores, I found a wonderful Prada purse for $3.00. The purse was worth approximately $1,200!! While at the checkout paying my $3.00, the clerk told me she was going to buy it when the store closed for the day. I was very lucky to find such a gem!

These are really nice techniques for making money for moms; as they will be busy with that work and also earn some money for themselves.
I think these are all the best ideas and practices to make extra income. In all these the secret shopper is the best idea. The simple reason being, it brings a feeling that we are counted for deciding about the new products and the services offered by the companies.

If I was ever stuck on a tropical island with internet I'd use textbroker.
I've also made money doing surveys but there are better ways to be honest. Your list is well thought out. I would say to people to start blogging as the best choice.

Great suggestions! I recently got really into Ebay as a way to get rid of some of my old stuff (like that shirt with the tags on that's been in my closet for 2 years) and save money for the holidays. Online surveys is another way I pick up a little extra cash in my spare time.

Super ideas for making money in this current economic climate. Sometimes we don't realise what we have in our own homes that we can sell and make some money to pay the gas bill!!

These are great tips, and I have used many of them to support my family. I used to advertise on craigslist as a girl friday, doing odd jobs, landscaping, cleaning and clerical work. It allowed me to support my six kids while attending massage school.
Now I live in Wyoming. If you want a real laugh, you should check out craigslist for Wyoming.

You put out some great ideas - specifically cleaning house. I won't clean my own but can certainly clean my neighbors for money. I'd never do more than one a day so I could give it my best but it would be a great way to earn discretionary money. Thanks for the tips! :) It's nice to see I'm not the only one looking for treasures at a garage sale. I use this as a resource for ebay all the time. I bought a pair of Rockin Republic Jeans at a yard sale about a year ago for $3.00, yep, $3.00. Took them home, found a $10 dollar bill in the pocket, then turned around and sold them on Ebay for about $40. And I started them at .99 cents. So yes, great idea. And some surveys do work, I have to say. I've been doing them for about a year, and I've just recently started a blog to share the ones that actually worked if anyone is interested. I have a hub that shows some of my earnings also, and some things I was able to purchase recently strictly from surveys. Just an fyi.
